Who We Are
A legacy of advocacy. A future built by hand.
The West Augustine Historical Community Development Corporation (WAHCDC) was established in 2010 by Gregory B. White and his wife, Lydia, on a simple conviction: every resident of West Augustine deserves dignity, opportunity, and a community built to support their success.

Long before there was a building, there was a man showing up—advocating for sidewalks and streetlights, fighting for youth spaces, organizing community cleanups, and providing backpacks through community Back-to-School Giveaways. Greg White championed the things others overlooked and refused to accept the inequities facing this community.
​
That persistence became a catalyst for lasting change. The CDC grew into a vehicle for meaningful progress—securing resources, forging partnerships with local government, and helping bring vital opportunities to West Augustine. Through those partnerships, the CDC helped facilitate 92 units of affordable housing, established a Class A health and wellness facility, and created a youth program that keeps children safe, active, and dreaming.

WAHCDC is a community development organization. We build infrastructure, create opportunities, foster partnerships, and connect residents with the resources they need—always answering to the people who live here.

Our vision is to build a thriving Healthy Village - a community-centered ecosystem where health, housing, opportunity, and dignity come together to transform lives in West Augustine.

That vision is already taking shape. The Greg and Lydia White Health and Wellness Center stands as our anchor project - a space designed to confront healthcare disparities head-on and connect residents with physical fitness, mental health support, and essential wellness services.

Joel White
President/ Executive Director
A dedicated community leader and President & Executive Director of the West Augustine Historical CDC, providing strategic leadership for its initiatives. With 16 years of youth football coaching experience and a background in clinical leadership and staff development, Joel is committed to serving and strengthening the West Augustine community.
Lenzy Hancock
Vice Chair\ Board Compliance Officer
Lenzy Hancock is an entrepreneur, author, U.S. Army veteran, and community leader dedicated to service, mentorship, and strengthening communities. As the founder and CEO of Hancock Corporation, he draws on his military and public service experience to inspire leadership, resilience, and personal growth.
Dorothy Williams
Secretary
Dorothy J. Williams has served on the WAHCDC Board since 2010 and currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer. A retired educator with 35.5 years of experience in the St. Johns County School District, Dorothy is deeply committed to education, faith, and community service, including her continued work with the Kids Safe Zone Afterschool Tutorial Program.
Ontario Clemons-Woodard
Member\Board Compliance Officer
Regina Williams is a lifelong West Augustine resident, community advocate, and WAHCDC board member. She is a Health and Safety Analyst at Northrop Grumman and serves as Director of the Young People’s Division at St. Luke A.M.E. Church.
